McBride, M.D. has observed many changes over the 27 years she has practiced medicine. With a life-long interest in biology and medical science, and armed with an undergraduate degree in microbiology, she focused her attention on becoming an obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. McBride joined KCWC just a few years ago because of the practice’s “good reputation for quality care.” She now specializes in gynecology and focuses on menopausal and uro-gynecology work. She says gynecology incorporates the wellness aspects of the medical profession, as opposed to dealing with the seriously ill. “I am interested in working closely with patients with stress incontinence and in exploring new techniques on pelvic reconstructive surgery. I also enjoy surgery. This particular specialty is a nice combination of medicine and surgery,” Dr. McBride adds. Every year Dr. McBride travels with a team of physicians to the Dominican Republic where they spend a week performing tubal ligations for 100 women. Dr. McBride says the work is rewarding. “After the week is over, I realize just how much we have in this country. For me, it is important that women have control over their reproduction and have babies when they want to," she says. Dr. McBride’s laid back, relaxed practice style puts her patients at ease right from the start. “When my patients leave my office, I hope they have received answers to all of their questions, and are clear about what was discussed,” she says.
