Crystal M. Newby, M.D.

Dr. Newby loves the challenge of diagnosing a patient's problem and developing a treatment plan. With so much more information at her disposal, Dr. Newby takes the time to explain different therapies and options available to her patients. She says, "I offer reasonable choices to each patient and provide them with the information they need to make a good choice. The patient ultimately chooses her own course of treatment from the options presented to her," Dr. Newby says.

Bone Densitometry

Bones go through a constant state of loss and re-growth. As we age, more loss than growth can occur. This can lead to a condition called osteoporosis. The bones then become thin and fragile and can break easily.

Women are at increased risk for osteoporosis. That is why KCWC offers you the latest in bone densitometry technology at our Quivira Office. This test is a simple, short, non-invasive exam using the Lunar Bone Densitometer. The results give your physician important information about the condition of your bones. Our goal is to evaluate your bone structure early on. If your exam indicates you are at risk for osteoporosis, we can begin the appropriate therapy to reduce your risk of osteoporosis.  Be sure to check with your insurance carrier to determine if bone densitometry is a covered test.
